The Michelsen Farmstead, a Provincial Historic Resource located in the village of Stirling, Alberta. Our mission is to collects, preserves, restores, and interpret artifacts which represent rural lifestyles of Southern Alberta with a special focus on the influence of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the development of Stirling and the surrounding regions from 1899 -1939.

The collection is for people of all ages who are interested in the settlement of a village based on the Plat of Zion. Which provided for the immediate needs for settler’s survival: shelter, food production, education, religious and social contact including the role of coal, irrigation, railways and transportation, the depression and modern conveniences brought by the introduction of electricity.

Whether you are a lifetime resident or new to Stirling, we invite you to join us. All it cost is $5 to join the society. We welcome new ideas and value enthusiasm from members and volunteers, new and old.
